Brief Glimpses

For you parents of daughters, see if you have experienced anything like this. My 11 year old, Meredith, walked into the room last night and looked like a young lady. It was not her clothing or hair or anything on the surface. Rather it was a dignified poise that gave her a certain air of maturity. And in my mind, for a moment, she was all grown up. Then she turn around, bumped into the door jam and fell on the floor.

We laughed together, and my brief premonition was gone. And thank God. I'm not ready for her to grow up, just yet.

She is a very pretty young lady! My sister wants Quincy to stay 4 1/2 for a while. I understand why now after seeing all of the cute things she does. I'm sure the getting closer to the teen years is another thing entirely.

Hey thanks, Martha. Rick, I'll call you for the supplies. Cheers.

I have a similar thing with my sons when they are playing sports. They seem so OLD on the field - all intense and competetive like. Then they'll come off the field and roll around in the grass or ask the coach what's for snack after the game. Baby steps I guess.

I've had moments like that with my kids as well. Just a brief glimpse into the future when you see the man or woman they're growing up to be. I'm to the point now where I'm actually looking ahead to the grandkids.

As a soon-to-be-mom, this gives me glimpses of what I can look forward to. I have a 23 year old niece, Jessica, who just graduated Anderson Univ. and is working as a teacher at Lexington Elementary. My nephew, Brandon, hired one of the attorneys I work for to review entertainment contracts for him and my other nephew, Jared, will intern next year in marketing with the Texas Rangers organization in Dallas. How the time flies!

I feel your pain, my man. All three of my daughters are hotties. They no longer look like little girls, though they continue to act like them!
