It's a bean pillow. I've seen 'em on HSN. No pesky quills like the down pillows the poor folks have to sleep on.

Kyle was closest! It is actually Granny's bean hemorrhoid pillow. The salt is for ol' time remedy soaking purposes. Incidently, if dining at Granny's, I'd pass on the greenbeans.
