Going To The Movies...

...are some of my best memories. Not because of the movies themselves, as most are inconsequential, but rather for the excitement of the movie experience with family and friends. How could I forget my first movie experience with Mom? It was a summer movie showing of Sinbad the Sailor, with some really bad but frightening claymation. Or my first movie experience with Dad, a drive-in showing of Walking Tall. I still love Buford Pusser and that stick, but what was Dad thinking?
In moments, I'm taking Jenna to see Shrek 4. Even now I'm excited. Not for the movie, but for the experience and the hope that one day she might fondly remember a day at the movies with Dad. Minus the stick, anger and violence. But who knows, I haven't seen the movie yet.

What was your earliest movie experience?

My first movie was an Elvis picture. My parents took me to the drive-in to see a film where the King was harassed by a great dane on the beach. That's all I remember. I fell asleep on the back seat after about 10 minutes.
My first indoor movie was Bedknobs and Broomsticks. My best friend's parents took me...

The best friend went too, of course. Boy, that would've been weird.

Footloose, and my friend's Mom started dancing in the aisles and we were mortified. But Shrek 4 was so good my kids watched all of it, no tantrums, no fussing, it was a wonderful movie experience. Hope you liked it as much as we did!

We loved Shrek 4, too. It was the perfect wrap-up to a great series. "Do the roar". I was going to take my daughter's best friend, but then decided to take my daughter instead. (funny stuff, Kyle)
